About the event
The course has a large practical component with particular emphasis on safe needling practice as set out in the latest PAANZ and IAPPT safety guidelines. The course is designed to help practitioners integrate dry needling and segmental needling into their clinical approach with a view to addressing the underlying causes of some of the more common clinical presentations we treat. Segmental needling is a very useful clinical skill set that compliments Dry Needling and is not offered by the majority of dry needling ongoing education courses.
Learning Objectives
- Outline the local, segmental and extra-segmental effects of segmental needling
- Address the aetiology of trigger points and the neurophysiological effects of dry needling trigger points
- Integrate dry needling and segmental needling into musculoskeletal clinical reasoning
- Discuss contra-indications, precautions, infection control and scope of practice
- Review traditional meridian points as they relate to segmental needling
- Safely segmentally needle meridian points that relate to conditions commonly treated by physiotherapists, osteopaths and
chiropractors
- Safely dry needle trigger points that relate to musculoskeletal conditions that are frequently treated by physiotherapists,
osteopaths and chiroppractors
